Tips on Eyeliner Tip Tuesday 4-30-19

This Tip Tuesday is about tips on eyeliner. Hope some of the tips help you out with your liner.

In our vido we show you the brushes we use and how we apply our liner using the loose minerals we make. We hope you enjoy the video!

Choose the right liner brush, that you are comfortable using. Find the right brush helps with the application.
Get a good mirror so you can see what you are doing. If you habe a hard time seeing what you are doing, get a mirror with some magnification or maybe a small mirror that attach to the mirror you are using.
Find a good eyeliner product that you can work with. See below for a few different types of liner. I always start with a little product oon thebrush and add if I need more.
It is easier to add to your look, than have too much on and you cannot get it off, unless you start all over

Check out our video on how I show you to look into the mirror and hold your head so you don’t need to pull on your lid.
We hope you enjoyed the tips on eyeliner.

Here are some different products used for lining eyes.

Gel liners are matte and glide on easily. They sometimes come in a little pot with a brush.
Pencil eyeliner is easy to apply, but sometimes doesn’t spread as smoothly or thickly as gel or liquid liners.
Liquid liners are used for their precision, and usually come in a tube with a small brush, or “pen-style” with a brush tip. They can take some time to dry after applying, though. I find that using a liquid sometimes you have to fan your eyes to get it to dry.

Hopefully armed with this information you will get to be the Queen of lining!

Lash Detail Mascara Review

I bought the Senna Lash Detail Mascara. Let me start by saying that I do already use the Senna Voluptulash Mascara for a few years now. So when I saw the Lash Detail Mascara I had to try it.

According to the website it Perfectly defines even tiny, sparse lashes for a naturally striking feathery effect in just one coat. Well let me tell you it does what is says! I use it on my lashes on the lower lid. In addition to defining the lashes, it separates them.

Another thing that the Lash Detail Mascara does it makes it look like you have a liner on your lid. Great for me! It defines the lower lashes and lid without having to add a liner. Best part it does not smear. As a result I do not need to add more products to my under eye area.

More information from the website. This lush black mascara with fibers and high volume polymers adheres evenly to create fullness and length on even the shortest lashes. Multi-effect conditioning waxes leave lashes soft, strong, and flexible. 3D Micro brush with triangular bristle design captures and coats lashes with no clumping or weight. Brush tip reaches every lash root, including lower and eye corner lashes and prevents mascara from blobbing under eyes and on top lids.

Apply the mascara to the lashes from base to tips in sweeping motion. Use brush tip to reach the finest lashes and tiny lashes at the edge and corners of eyes. It took me a while to get it right on my left eye, but I did. If you wiggle the wand a bit to get the liner look.

I have tried other before and they never worked like this one. This one does the job and looks great all day.

Artis Brushes

We are going to review the Artis Brushes, I was talking with some makeup artists that use Artis Brushes  and a lot like them. I have seen Artis Brushes and thought they were kind of nice and different. They looked sort of hard to use. So after talking to some makeup artists that use them I thought I would give it a try.  Well let me tell you they are wonderful! The Artis Brushes do have a bit of a learning curve to them. My favorite one is the Oval 6, if you want a smooth foundation application this is the brush for you. I have tried the Oval 6 with loose minerals, cream and liquid foundations and work beautifully with all of them.  I also have the Linear 1 and the Oval 3, The Oval 3 I use for shadow and you only need  a little shadow for this brush to give you a smooth finish basically in one swipe.  I am still trying to learn the Linear 1 for lining, when I get it to work it does give a perfect line again in one swipe. I can only get the line to go from the middle of my eye to the outer edge, still cannot master the inner most of the eye.  You do have to use their cleaner and brush cleaning pad for these.

artis brushesI bought the set from QVC, it was a good deal if you check out the prices on other sites. I does come with the cleaner and cleaning pad which was a plus. Why is it different: Artis brushes are made with CosmeFibre, a revolutionary engineered fiber made for applying cosmetic and makeup products. Designed to make it easier to apply makeup, the brushes have a familiar ergonomic configuration.

How do I use it: The Linear 1 has a very narrow (about 1mm to 2mm) row of fibers to help concentrate product application in a line, such as along the lash line. This brush can apply a precise line of product along the upper lash line or tucked under the lower lash line. It can also be used to fill in and define the brows and can simulate brow hair lines; or can be used to apply a defined line along the lip or any other part of the face. The Linear 1 brush is very helpful for special effects makeup to create crisp lines and linear shapes.

The Oval 3 assists in shading and blending the products applied to the outside and inside corners of the eye lid and smaller areas of the eyelid. This brush is also useful for applying foundation or concealer to the inside corner area of the eye or on the side of nose by the nostrils.

The Oval 6 is great for applying product to the entire eye lid, foundation to the face, or contouring the cheekbone area. This brush applies blush beautifully to the apple of the cheek and blends it so that the application looks natural.

If you are looking for a great flawless foundation application you have to try at least the Oval 6.

Micellar Water

Micellar Water

Make-up artists and models have used Micellar Water for decades. Now the secret’s out and Micellar Water is incredibly popular with students, moms, adventurers and entrepreneurs– anyone who needs a little short cut in their skin care routine or doesn’t have water handy when they need it

What is Micellar Water?
Micellar Water contains micelles. These little ball shaped molecules have lipophilic ends that cling to dirt and oil and hydrophilic ends that cling to water.

How does it work?
When a cotton pad is dampened with Micellar Water, the water loving ends cling to the cotton and the oil and dirt loving ends stick out from the pad waiting to cling to dirt and oil. When you wipe the Micellar Water dampened cotton pad across your face, the dirt and oil loving ends do their job by removing dirt and oil from your face leaving you with clean, fresh skin.

Part of Micellar Water’s effectiveness is in the application. Pour the Micellar Water on a cotton pad. This takes advantage of Cotton’s hydrophilic properties. The hydrophilic heads are attracted to the cotton, leaving the hydrophobic tails sticking up to trap oil, and dirt, including makeup, mascara and sebum. When applied to skin Micellar Water and cotton pads cleanse the skin by acting like a magnet, attracting and entrapping impurities without harsh rubbing or scraping.

Micellar Water can be used in place of your cleanser and toner,  we think a spritz or a cotton pad dampened with our Classic Toner or Prestige Toner can be a great addition, especially on hot, humid days when you’re feeling sticky. We like it for touching up mascara misses and for cleaning your face after being out shopping, after a run or any outdoor activity,  anywhere you want to get your face clean when there’s no water around. Fusion of Color also recommends get a smaller bottle and keep it in your desk at work or in your purse, in case you decide to go out after work.

Micellar Water’s ingredients are quite simple: Deionized Water, Witch Hazel, Water, Alcohol, Glycerin, Gluconolactone (and) Sodium Benzoate, Capric/Caprylic Triglycerides [MCT Oil], Lecithin, Decyl Glucoside. That’s it! No harsh chemicals to irritate sensitive skin.

Some insights I gathered from makeup artists.

Yesterday I hosted a class for some Chicago makeup artists. Most of them do bridal work, some do commercial and some do both. After the class, we talked about the industry. Regardless of whether you go to them for advice, your bridal trial, a special event, or as a model doing print work, they all said that good skin care is the first thing you should be doing on a regular basis. No matter how good the makeup artist is, she cannot fix your skin. They can hide some imperfections and do some highlight, contouring, shadow and blush placement and apply colors that work for you that make you look stunning.

Also you need to be realistic in your expectations. If you are not a makeup wearer, don’t bring pictures of Kim K and say you want the natural look—honey, none of Kim K’s make up is natural. Granted, she looks amazing. but there is a lot of makeup on her face, and most, if not all, of her pictures are photoshopped.

Now let’s get to us mature women. Again makeup artists can only do so much– they are not magicians. (I wish they were; I would have one on retainer.) If we older gals have wrinkles, we are going to have them after the makeup is applied. Makeup artists can soften them, make them look less noticeable, hid some of our sagging skin. But don’t get mad at them if you can still see your wrinkles after the makeup application. I think we lose sight of reality: We all want to look like the models and movie stars we see in magazines, but we have to realize they are photoshopped to perfection! This not what real women look like.

We also see all these amazing face-of-the-day selfies posted on Instagram—again, not real life. Most of them are filtered, photoshopped and countless other applications are used to make the picture look perfect. We need to get back to reality and look the best we can with what we have. Makeup does help us look our best. If you are unsure how to apply it or wearing the same makeup you wore in high school or stuck in a makeup look from when we thought we looked fab, go to a professional, get advice, have your make up done, take a class on how to apply it and what to use. I think in the end you will be much happier!

Complementary COLORS for your eyes

Complementary Colors in makeup will make your eyes pop! All colors can evoke certain emotions or feelings and can be used as a form of self expression, especially with cosmetics. Although there are a dizzying array of eye shadow colors that can be customized, choose one that will complement the color of your eyes. Wearing a shadow color that is opposite (complementary) of your eye color will make your eyes pop. If you do not have a color wheel on hand, here is a quick tip list.

GREEN EYES:
Plums, violets and various shades of purple will really make
green eyes stand out. Sepia, rust, copper and deep green are also
complementary. Avoid silver, blues, whites and pastels as they can make eyes
look washed out.

BROWN EYES:

Brown eyes are the easiest to complement as they look great in
all shades of bright colors. Teal, green, purple and pink will really make them pop, as well as bronze, peach, green, and navy.

HAZEL EYES:

Gray, burgundy and deep purple best complement hazel eyes
and will bring out the gold flecks in hazel eyes. A bright green will enhance
the green flecks in hazel eyes.

BLUE EYES:

Since blue is naturally cool, warm shades of gold, bronze, copper,
terra cotta, peach or light orange are the best complimentary colors to
make blue eyes pop. Browns with purple, slate and silvery blue are cooler
colors that are complementary and will also enhance blue eyes.

Mineral Makeup The Trend Continues

What is a Mineral?„

Webster’s dictionary defines a mineral as:
“A naturally occurring substance formed through a geologic process.”

Properties of a Mineral:
All minerals are found in the form of a solid
All minerals have a crystalline structure

The Mineral Trend
The root of the Mineral Trend is the concept of Natural Beauty.
Natural Beauty is synonymous with fresh and healthy looking skin
without the help of heavy make-up or even surgery

Claims made for mineral make-up have included delivering nutrients to skin, providing natural sun protection, delivering long-lasting coverage and being suitable for use on sensitive skin. To help protect skin from the visible signs of premature aging.

Most mineral make-up is in the form of loose powders.
Mineral makeup bridges the gap between glamour and natural by extending lines to include eye shadow, blush, and lipstick.
Claim to nurture the skin, while light diffusing properties add dramatic shine and color.
